Júlia Berruezo

Júlia Berruezo has been working at the Chair of International Business, Sustainability, and Society at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg since March 2024. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and another in International Relations from the Universidade Federal do ABC (Federal University of ABC-UFABC) in São Paulo, Brazil, as well as an M.A. in Development Studies with a specialization in Sustainability from the University of Passau, Germany. Her doctoral project examine how sustainability, sociobioeconomy, and human rights frameworks can empower traditional populations in the Brazilian Cerrado to remain in rural areas with viable livelihoods and social legitimacy, while facing external pressures such as corporate land use, new regulations, and changing international markets. In this research, she explores the intersection of agri-food commodity chains and energy transition and local sustainability strategies through a political economy lens.
