
Mauricio earned a bachelor’s in law and a master’s in economics from the National University of Colombia, an MSc in environmental science in the Netherlands, and an LLM from Canada. His professional career includes roles as a law clerk, an economic analyst, and a public servant in land management and land tenure. Prior to enrolling in the IDP program at FAU, he worked at the Colombian Constitutional Court and as a professor of Civil and Economic Law. Over his career, he worked with local NGOs and international organizations on natural resource management, deforestation, and mining policy. His thesis focuses on the human and environmental rights risks posed by the EU’s „Strategic Partnership“ projects in third-party countries, under the Critical Raw Material Act.
