Puru Malhotra earned his bachelor’s in business economics from the University of Delhi and his master’s in Development Economics and International Studies from FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg. Before joining the IDP-BHR, he worked as a research assistant at the Chair of Sustainability Transition Policy, FAU.

His research focuses on assessing the socio-economic effectiveness of climate policies in developing countries using empirical and mixed methods. He is particularly interested in understanding the role of state and private actors in accelerating clean energy transition under institutionally weaker contexts.
