Sacha Feierabend

Sacha Feierabend studied Sociology and Political Science at the Sorbonne Paris Nord and Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC) universities in France. He holds a Master’s degree in Human Rights and Humanitarian Action from Sciences Po University in Paris.

He has over seven years experience working in the non-profit human rights sector. Prior to joining FAU, he was a senior researcher for the Business, Human Rights and Environment desk of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH).

He is currently pursuing a PhD within the International Doctoral Programme on Business and Human Rights at FAU, and at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) at Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands. His research focuses on human rights issues in the global production network of lithium-ion batteries. It involves multi-sited fieldwork in geographies of production and consumption of batteries and electric vehicles in South America and Europe, such as lithium extraction sites, refineries, battery assembly plants, and corporate headquarters. His research interests include the socio-environmental impacts of extractive industries, business and human rights, climate and environmental justice, and participatory research methods.
